Review: One to Watch

The hype is real for One to Watch,  I loved this book! I’m a fan of The Bachelor and Bachelorette, Peter Kraus from Rachel’s season is still one of my favorite contestants and Jojo is my favorite Bachelorette. With Claire’s season on hold, I needed something Bachelorette-like to fill the void this summer and this book was the perfect fit.

Bea, a plus-size fashion blogger loves watching the reality dating show Main Squeeze. After drinking a little too much and writing a blog post about the show’s lack of body diversity, she gets an interesting offer from producers, become the next star. Bea agrees to do it on the condition that she will not fall in love. But with fantasy dates and some truly good guys not looking for fame, she just might find herself falling for the fairy-tale.

I loved Bea, she is someone I would want to be friends with. Who wouldn’t want to shop in her closet, go on travel adventures together and have her in your corner? She was a character I related to so much, as someone who protects herself from getting hurt, at many times I felt like I was reading my own thoughts. I appreciated how Bea learned to love herself along the way despite what some of the men said to her on why she didn’t deserve to find her happy ending.

As much as I love to watch these shows, it would be great if they would be diverse in their castings of not just race but also body type. Hopefully the seasons that follow Matt James will continue to be diverse.
