Review: The Perfect Marriage

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

Have you heard about this book yet? If you haven’t, let me tell you that there is so much hype around it and rave reviews and I can tell you that all of it is so well deserved. The Perfect Marriage will definitely be one of my favorite reads of 2020!

I love a good psychological thriller, but with a lot of the books in the category that have come out recently, I’ve been able to figure out the mystery early and once I do, it starts to ruin the book for me. I blame The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson for ruining the genre for me, since Swanson knows how to throw you off the trail all throughout reading, and now, so does Jeneva Rose! I was guessing who the murderer was the entire time up until the very end. This is Jeneva’s debut novel and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future.

The story follows Sarah Morgan, a successful Washington D.C. defense attorney who spends more time at the office than she does with her husband Adam, a struggling writer. Adam spends time at their lakehouse in Virginia where he says he is focusing on his writing, but is instead with his mistress Kelly. After one of their meet ups, the Morgan’s cleaning lady finds Kelly brutally stabbed at the house and Adam is under arrest for her murder. Knowing she is the most qualified person to take the case, Sarah becomes Adam’s lawyer to defend him against murdering his mistress.

As soon as I started the book, I could not put it down because I needed to know what happened. The chapters switch back and forth between Sarah and Adam’s perspective, so you get to understand both sides of the story. All of the characters you meet along the way help in moving the story along at a quick pace and you will suspect all of them of being up to no good. The ending really shocked me, I was so sure I had it all figured out and Jeneva throws you for the best twist. This book will take you on a wild ride and it is worth it!

Right now the Kindle version of the book is 99 cents and my friend told me the book is available on Kindle Unlimited. If you enjoy psychological thrillers or just want to read an incredibly well written story, definitely pick up a copy of The Perfect Marriage!
