Author Spotlight: Christina Lauren

There are a bunch of authors that I love that have become auto-read authors to me and I’m going to start spotlighting them. First up is the duo that makes up Christina Lauren — Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings. They have written 26 books so far, including 3 series. I was first introduced to them when I read an advance copy of The Unhoneymooners in 2018 and have since been on a quest to read all of their standalone novels. Last month I read three of their books, Roomies, Love and Other Words, and an advance copy of In a Holidaze, so until they write more books, the only standalone I have left to read is Dating You/Hating You.

What I love about their books is they make you feel all the emotions. One minute I’m laughing at something the characters are doing and the next I’m crying because someone is either having their heart broken or they are falling in love and it is just incredibly adorable. Their characters are ones that you can root for. I’m a sucker for Hallmark movies and most of their books read like a movie, so to me they are the perfect escape.

Out of the books of theirs that I have read, Love and Other Words, The Unhoneymooners, and In a Holidaze are my top favorites. Love and Other Words is different than their usual cute rom-com style, its more serious and that is definitely one of the reasons why I enjoyed it so much. I liked Macy and Elliot’s story so much and would love a sequel to the book to continue their journey. The Unhoneymooners will always hold a special place in my heart because it introduced me to Christina Lauren, but it also is such a great book and if you have never read anything by them, I highly recommend starting with this one. For the hate to love trope, it is one of the best and funniest stories I have read and Olive is such an incredible character that you can’t help but root for. In a Holidaze which comes out on October 6, was a book I could not put down. I loved the premise of Mae having her Christmas holiday reset until she stumbled upon a reset where she started to say the things on her mind and got to live out what happens in that reality. It also had an extended family that you can’t help but fall in love with.

You really can’t go wrong with any of their books, you’ll end each story with a smile on your face!
