Review: The Lion’s Den

The Lion’s Den by Katherine St. John
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing • Publication Date: June 30, 2020

Content Warning: Murder

I can’t stop raving about this book, I loved it! It was the perfect mix of a soap opera and a murder mystery wrapped into a story that you just cannot put down.

The story follows Belle who goes on a 7 day yacht cruise to celebrate her best friend Summer’s birthday. Except Belle and Summer are not as close as they once were and Belle has her suspicions about Summer’s 60 plus year-old boyfriend. The chapters alternate between days on the trip to the past years and days leading up to the trip’s departure and it helped the book flow easily giving you the backstory you needed for what was coming next. The book takes you on a wild ride, but it’s a fun one as you figure out who Belle can trust, just how devious Summer can get and what is going on.

One twist I did see coming, but there were some others I definitely was surprised about and I had to go back and reread some chapters to see what I missed! I do wish the book was a little longer, only because I didn’t want it to end once you got answers. I can’t wait to read more books by Katherine St. John now.
