Audiobook Review: The Wreckage of My Presence

The Wreckage of My Presence by Casey Wilson
Publisher: Harper • Publication Date: May 4, 2021

“I overspend, I overeat, I overdo”

As soon as I heard that line in the first chapter, I knew I was going to love listening to this book! I’ve been a fan of Casey Wilson’s since her days on Saturday Night Live, and I loved listening to her narrate her collection of essays. So many of them had me laughing, but a few of them had me wiping away some tears.

Happy Endings is one of my all-time favorite TV shows, and this book made me miss it so much. I have watched all 3 seasons many times on Hulu and I’m sure I’ll be doing the same once the show starts on Netflix this month. I liked hearing that the actors were all as nice as they seem and that they became genuine friends thanks to the show.

The chapters where she talked about her weight struggles were incredibly relatable and I loved how she didn’t shy away about discussing her addiction to sugar. Her raw honestly in this book was refreshing. She also made me wonder if Louie Anderson is the most caring celebrity ever and I wish June Diane Raphael was my best friend as well.
