Heartbreak for Hire by Sonia Hartl
Fan of Christina Lauren books and The Hating Game by Sally Thorne? Add Heartbreak for Hire to your TBR when it comes out on July 27. I absolutely loved this book, and I can easily say it will be one of my top romance reads of the year. I was hooked from the first chapter and I couldn’t stop reading, even though I didn’t want it to end.
Hartl did a phenomenal job with the enemies to lovers trope and giving readers two main characters, Brinkley and Mark that you can’t help love and root for. The banter between Brinkley and Mark is hysterical as they try to find ways to undermine each other, all while trying not to fall in love with each other. Their chemistry was amazing and this book had the perfect amount of steam in it.
I loved the uniqueness of the story, from Brinkley’s job as a professional heartbreaker who extracts revenge on men, to the twists and turns the story took along the way. Brinkley had suffered emotional abuse from an ex and I liked the way Hartl handled it and had Brinkley grow throughout the book to realize just how worthy she is. Those parts were raw and honest and it had me rooting for Brinkley to get her happily ever after. Mark, even when he tried to be a jerk to Brinkley in the beginning, he was just the sweetest, and I liked how him seeing Brinkley happy just made him happy.
For her adult fiction debut, Hartl knocked this one out of the park and I can’t wait to read more from her. Thank you to Gallery Books for an advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
